A (Kamu): “Good morning, Rina\! How was your weekend?”
B (Rina): “Morning\! It was great, I went hiking with my family. How about you?”
A: “Nice\! Mine was pretty chill. Just stayed home and watched movies.”
B: “Sounds relaxing. Ready for another busy week?”
A: “Haha, as ready as I’ll ever be. Let’s do this\!”
Kalau kamu butuh klarifikasi soal kerjaan, nggak usah ragu buat nanya langsung. Pakai kalimat yang polite tapi to the point supaya nggak buang waktu.
A (Kamu): “Hey, Dimas. Do you have a minute? I have a quick question about the report.”
B (Dimas): “Sure, what’s up?”
A: “So, for the sales data section, should I include last quarter’s numbers or just this month?”
B: “Just this month should be fine. But double-check with the manager if you’re not sure.”
A: “Got it. Thanks for the help\!”
B: “No problem. Let me know if you need anything else.”
Frasa “Do you have a minute?” itu cara sopan buat minta waktu seseorang tanpa terkesan mengganggu. Kamu juga bisa pakai “Can I ask you something real quick?” sebagai alternatif.
Diskusi di Meeting
Meeting kantor kadang bikin nervous, apalagi kalau harus ngomong bahasa Inggris. Tapi tenang, kamu cukup kuasai beberapa frasa umum yang sering dipakai di ruang meeting.
A (Manager): “Alright, let’s get started. Andi, can you give us an update on the project?”
B (Andi/Kamu): “Sure. So far, we’ve completed the first phase. We’re currently working on the design mockups, and we should be done by Friday.”
A: “That sounds good. Any challenges so far?”
B: “Actually, yes. We’re a bit short on resources for the testing phase. I think we might need one more person on the team.”
A: “Okay, I’ll look into that. Anyone else have something to add?”
C (Rekan): “I just want to suggest that we set up a weekly check-in so everyone stays on the same page.”
A: “Great idea. Let’s do that.”
A (Kamu): “Hey, want to grab lunch together?”
B (Rekan): “Sure\! Where do you want to go?”
A: “How about that new ramen place across the street? I heard it’s really good.”
B: “Oh, I’ve been wanting to try that\! Let’s go.”
A: “By the way, have you watched that new series on Netflix? Everyone’s been talking about it.”
B: “Not yet, but it’s on my list. Is it worth the hype?”
A: “Totally. You should watch it this weekend.”
Percakapan santai kayak gini biasanya pakai informal English.
A (Kamu): “Hey, Sarah. I’m sorry to bother you, but could you help me with something?”
B (Sarah): “Of course\! What do you need?”
A: “I’m having trouble with this spreadsheet formula. It keeps showing an error and I can’t figure out why.”
B: “Let me take a look… Oh, I see the issue. You need to change the cell reference here.”
A: “Oh, that’s it? I’ve been staring at this for an hour\! Thank you so much.”
B: “Haha, no worries. It happens to everyone.”
Frasa kayak “I’m sorry to bother you” atau “Would you mind helping me?” itu bikin orang lebih willing buat bantu kamu.
A (Kamu): “Excuse me, Mr. Hendra. Do you have a moment? I’d like to discuss something about the project timeline.”
B (Atasan): “Sure, come in. What’s on your mind?”
A: “I’ve been reviewing the deadline, and I think we might need an extra week for the final testing. The scope turned out to be bigger than we initially planned.”
B: “I see. Can you send me a revised timeline by tomorrow? I’ll review it and we can discuss it further.”
A: “Absolutely. I’ll have it on your desk by noon. Thank you for your time.”
B: “No problem. I appreciate you bringing this up early.”
Waktu bicara sama atasan, gunakan frasa yang lebih sopan seperti “I’d like to discuss…”, “Could I get your input on…”, atau “I appreciate your time.”
